About
The Dallas Breakfast Group (DBG) has a singular mission: to increase participation by Dallas-area business executives and civic leaders in local elections and local affairs, strengthening the quality of leadership that guides our city.
Founded in 1986 by a group of Dallas’ leading business leaders, DBG was created to identify and support thoughtful, capable candidates seeking service on the Dallas City Council, the Dallas School Board and the Dallas County Community College District Board of Trustees. From the start, the organization also encouraged qualified individuals to step forward for City of Dallas boards and commissions.
Now entering its 40th year, DBG has become a steady force for civil discourse in Dallas. For four decades, it has provided a trusted, nonpartisan forum where business and civic leaders engage directly with candidates and public officials, fostering informed dialogue, mutual respect and thoughtful debate on the issues that shape our community.
Members are drawn to DBG by a shared belief that the quality of local leadership matters. They support the principle that strong candidates lead to strong institutions and that informed participation strengthens local government.
Each year, DBG hosts candidate forums for those seeking election to the Dallas City Council, Dallas School Board and Dallas County Community College District Board of Trustees. It remains the only business-focused organization in Dallas to convene members and candidates in this setting.
Throughout the year, DBG also convenes issue-driven conversations on topics such as economic development, transportation, water and civic engagement. Local elected officials and business leaders are invited to brief members on emerging priorities and challenges. Recent speakers have included the Mayor of Dallas, senior city leadership, education leaders and longtime DBG members who have served at the highest levels of public life.
For forty years and counting, the Dallas Breakfast Group has helped shape Dallas not through partisanship, but through participation, dialogue and a lasting commitment to thoughtful civic leadership.
